About Modern History

Welcome to Festival of Wonders, celebrating the wondrous stories, people and places that make up Pennine Lancashire.

We are delighted to announce that Festival of Wonders 2014 will bring over 20 events across 3 days 15/16/17 May. This is part of Museums at Night 2014 where all across the UK there are special events and late night openings in museums, galleries, libraries and other heritage venues.

For a full list of all events taking place please click here.

Lat year we had 15 venues are hosting 20 events across 3 days - 16/17/18 May 2013. These events ranged from special exhibitions, evening tours, children's events, workshops, theatrical, film and musical performances, lectures, talks and storytelling. For 2014 we have new venues and an equally (if not better) array of events, walks, trails, shows, tours, exhibitions and hands on family activities.

The events of 2013 and the forthcoming events of 2014 have all been made possible thanks to a grant from Heritage Lottery Fund.
