About Modern History

Welcome to Festival of Wonders, celebrating the wondrous stories, people and places that make up Pennine Lancashire.

As part of Museums at Night 2013 Pennine Lancashire\'s Festival of Wonders brings you special events in museums, galleries, libraries and other heritage venues. 

15 venues are hosting 20 events across 3 days - 16/17/18 May 2013. These events range from special exhibitions, evening tours, children\'s events, workshops, theatrical, film and musical performances, lectures, talks and storytelling. The topics covered include the story of Joseph Briggs - the man who brought the Tiffany Glass to Accrington, the history of Waddow Hall - HQ of Girlguiding UK, the wondrous life of Edward Stocks Massey - a brewer in Burnley whose trust funds restoration at Towneley Hall, film night at Queen Street Mill Textile Museum courtesy of footage from the North West Film Archive and lots lots more.
